Many people believed that after quarantining for three months and a drop in peak case levels, states were safe to start their reopening plans. However, while at the beginning of June many states were showing decreased numbers, or steady numbers, there is once again a rise in cases. 

Experts say that this is not the second wave of coronavirus that they warned people about, but merely a resurgence of the first wave. It was thought that COVID-19 would act similarly to the flu in that cases would die down for the summer, but that has not been the case.

Continue to social distance

Social distancing will help to prevent sick people from coming into contact with healthy people and spreading the disease. Social distancing not only helps to flatten the curve and prevent the spreading of the coronavirus, but it also helps to make sure that hospitals are not overwhelmed with cases. 

Be wary of spaces with a lot of people, and try to avoid crowds as much as you can. Even if your state is allowing bars to reopen, many experts advise against attending. Surgical masks and N95 masks should still be reserved as PPE for doctors, nurses and medical first responders. However, there are plenty of masks that you can make yourself to wear. Continue to wash your hands, disinfect high-touch objects and always be wary of any symptoms you might have. 

Stay outdoors

Thanks to the warm weather, there are plenty of outdoor activities that you can participate in that do not put you at risk for catching COVID-19. 

For example, experts deem hanging out at the beach or going camping to be low-risk for people. As long as you avoid getting close to people and remain mostly isolated, they are great activities to boost your mental health without the worry of getting sick. Spending time outdoors in any way is a relatively low risk as long as you limit the people you surround yourself with.
